[Sheflug] Of linux and kernels ... :)

For those that are running the 2.4 kernel...

Marcelo's released 2.4.16 now ... and there's a nice long thread talking
about the rate of releases etc. Marcelo has agreed with others with parts of
it and has announced he's going to start using -rc versioning (release
candidate), thus after the final -pre, expect to see -rc, and if the -rc is
stable the -rc becomes -final, else we'll have another -rc that just fixes
the bugs of the previous -rc (ie, where -pre's can have features added, -rc
is meant to be a bug-fix only system). When an rc's been out for a week or so
with no problems, that becomes -final thus is released to the masses :)

Hopefully this'll improve the stable branches stability with no cock-ups
unlike some of the most recent kernels.

Chris...
