I've been running 2.4.13-ac3 on RH7.2 for a little over 5 weeks
without a problem (would have been a lot more, but I rebooted to mess
around with hardware).
My system is running ext3 with no problems.
Seems stable enough to me - I've recently written a 1.9Gb file to the
filesystem and had the load at >20.0 in an attempt to break the system
- it carried on working OK.
Don't use any kernel earlier than 2.4.9 (even Redhat have issued an
upgrade) - there are security problems.
Avoid 2.4.15 like the plague - filesystem corruption.
There seemed to be a few rumours on the LKML of similar problems with
2.4.16, although I know of someone who has run it in a production
environment without a hitch.
I'd like to hear of other folk's comments on 2.4.16 - how is it?
Cheers.
Baz.
