[Sheflug] Broken Sym Link (was Unknown device under RH7.2)
This seems to be the relevent part of /etc/devfsd.conf refering to the cdroms
#
# Uncomment this if you want the old /dev/cdrom symlink
# (e.g. those specifying CD-ROM type, mouse port, modem port etc)
#
LOOKUP ^cdrom$ CFUNCTION GLOBAL symlink cdroms/cdrom0 $devpath
REGISTER ^cdroms/cdrom0$ CFUNCTION GLOBAL symlink cdroms/cdrom0 cdrom
UNREGISTER ^cdroms/cdrom0$ CFUNCTION GLOBAL unlink cdrom
I have checked out /dev/ and find
cdrom was a file of unknown type linked to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 since reboot it is now a block device but with the wrong icon and permissions of rwxrwxrwx
/dev/cdrom0 and /dev/cdrom2 are both block devices linking to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 with file permission of rw
/dev/cdrom1 is a block device linking to /dev/cdroms/cdrom1 with file permission of rw
Ignore my problems ejecting the disk there was another device accessing it and I didn't notice DOH
