you can lift the source files from woody/sid (and maybe any deps) and

1.3.22 on a potato box). This has an advantage over just compiling the
source: you have  a package, and in the future (whenever you upgrade),
debian will take care of upgrading your package. This is one of the
things debian's good at: the lack of further installations.
