It looks like it can't find a file on the CD.

Linux doesn't use the BIOS. If the installer has already booted then that
is not the problem.

Dodgy memory doesn't cause read errors from CD.

Have you tried cleaning it? :)

Maybe your CDROM drive is a bit old & kranky.
