What tosh :)
You put config files in /var/qmail/control. rcpthosts controls which
domains it will receive for (i.e., accept either for delivery or relay).
Only those domains _also_ listed in locals are then delivered locally.
So, it's not an open relay. I have it set up in xinetd, works a treat.
It's literally 100x harder to set it up as an open relay, I'm sure.
As for "when would I want to canonify?", it's when you're a lazy git at
you want the mail [at] otherlocal addresses to be delivered to the
otherlocal.mylocaldomain server or something. It rewrites the envelope,
IIRC, but I can't think of any good reason for/against having it (well,
good reasons against might include dial-on-demand, but you know what I
mean ;)
Cheers,
ALex.
