Does it split them, or just truncate them? I had a feeling it just threw
away everything after line[998], then put back the \r\n :0

You know you spend too much time on IRC when you start typing things like
that :P Whichever local delivery agent is, it'd be worth checking that.
That and your POP server (assuming you POP your mail). It might be worth
checking the local mailer definition in your sendmail.cf, too - you can
set the maximum length of lines passed to the local mailer there.
