here I go... sounds like an AGP problem. The newer drivers, and particularly SuSE 7.3, seem to have problems with 'fast' or 'zero wait state' (depending on your BIOS) AGP access. Disable it in BIOS and see what happens.

Failing that, try disabling AGP support for the 'nvidia' driver in XF86config (I forget the option)

Get back to me if that lot doesn't work :)
