[Sheflug] Suse 7.3 & NVidia binaries...again!

Apologies to Craig, who knows that we've been round this loop before ;-)

I had a spell of madness a few months ago, ditching SuSE 7.0 with
working NVidia accelerated 3-d drivers when I upgraded my main HDD &
installed Mandrake 8.1. The NVidia binaries for this system worked like
a dream. However, the drawbacks of Mandrake - like how the hell does
anyone ever compile anything major on the "download edition" - finally
forced me back to a "real" distro.

So, out-of-the-box SuSE 7.3 with the latest NVidia kernel module & glx
rpms (from nvidia.com - can't find the rpms on the SuSE update ftp
site)...system hangs, as in total lock up & requires the reset button
hitting to restart (much as it used to do in the "bad old days"). I know
there are several threads on the mail archive regarding this particular
problem, but does anyone (ie Craig - help!!) please have a quick
solution to this, without forcing me to trawl the archive?
