Re: [Sheflug] unpacking tars
Step by step.
First put the file pctel-2.2.tar.gz in your _home_ directory, not on the
desktop, as the location of the desktop directory varies between window
managers and you haven't said which one you are using.
Open an xterm. This should start you off with your current directory being
your home directory so type 'ls' and you should be able to see the file
pctel-2.2.tar.gz amongst any other files you may have in there.
Now try 'tar -xvzf pctel-2.2.tar.gz' and it will extract the files from
the tarball. You will probably find the files in a directory called
pctel-2.2 in your home directory.
