TBH, this is why I keep meaning to create a bunch of statically linked tools
(bash, mv, cp, rm, ln, ls, ldconfig as a minimum, then tar, mount, umount and
others as extras), so that if I do loose a libray (esp. libc), I'm not
shafted. Slackware ships with a statically linked 'ln' which allows glibc
updates without having to drop to single user (which is nice).

Boot and rescue CDs are all well and good, but it's not the same as being
able to boot the main system into single user, and just using the rescue CD
as restore media.

But that's just me :)
