When I see people get so engaged in one discipline that all other subjects merit
nothing but vituperative contempt, I become very worried. I am quite disturbed by
the caustic reply peter received. What surprises me most is that I remember last
year sometime the list moderator stating that anyone using this list to send
Flames would be banned from the list. Maybe Linux chaps (and chap-esses) have a
different definition of what constitutes a 'Flame' to that which I understand.
Would it not be far better to mail someone who offends us (by using the forbidden
'M' word) off list, with a response like "Hey fella, we don't like that word used
on our list, but I'll help ya if I can!"
My view of Linux is that it is all just good, clean fun! Linus was just a cool
hacker who just wanted to learn, and have fun I reckon. Have fun, and be nice!
