Quake 2 uses it's own libGL (in it's install directory). You could try 
deleting (backup though) the libGL in the install directory and creating a 
symlink of the same name to your system libGL. Or alternatively use one of 
the Quake 2 open source projects that will likely use system libGL by default 
(the relnev port works for me - try google).

Kingpin may be doing the same thing.
