Re: [Sheflug] Modems

Sorry if this is a bit late but....

I configured a simular winmodem to the one you had this weekend for my
dad down in wales. His was a HCF 56k modem and the HCF drivers (very
simuler to the HSF ones wouldn't reconise it at all) In the end, I had
to get the actual PCI vender ID and PCI Hardware ID and feed them into
the install script when prompted. This seemed to do the trick.

to get the PCI Vender ID and Hardware ID for your modem cat /proc/pci
this will bring up a list of all PCI cards in your PC (see example below
this is my network card)

Ethernet controller: PCI device 125b:1400 (Asix Electronics
Corporation) (rev 3).
      IRQ 11.
      Master Capable. Latency=64. Min Gnt=20.Max Lat=40.
      I/O at 0xdc80 [0xdcff].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xdfffef80 [0xdfffefff].

Where it says "Ethernet controller: PCI device 125b:1400" the 125b is
the PCI vender id and the 1400 is the PCI hardware id. Feed these
addresses into the HSF install script when prompted and after a reboot
(might not be necessary, but I seemed to need to re-boot for some
reason) and a bit of luck it should all work.

Anyhow good luck !

Hope its not too late

Alan

I didn't think there would be a big difference between the HSP56 micromodem and the HSP56 MR. One web page told me drivers might be available for the MR but I have yet to find one.
