Check this kids.. http://www.alex.uklinux.net/Images/desktop.png (191K) That's Galeon 1.2 running on Moz 0.9.9.. anti-aliased fonts :) (even tho' the Galeon FAQ suggests that it's not possible). If you're running Debian/sid you can grab this now, it's all up there. Moz is quick as lightening, and as far as I'm concerned the extra month to 1.0 is probably going to hold very little now :) Roll on Gnome 2.0! (And yes, I know KDE can do this, but Gnome looks cooler :P ) Who says GNU/Linux can't do the desktop? Another piece of software I've tried - OpenOffice.org 641d, the latest stable build. It opens a lot faster than previous ones (even faster if you use the Gnome OO applet - supposedly less than five seconds :) and is looking _very_ good. The biggest Word doc I had was opened without a problem, and it includes line drawings and all sorts. I'm pretty impressed. My current specs. are P3/450 with 256Mb RAM, which is fairly middle of the road these days (500 quid gets you that, with a Athlon XP 1800 and a much better gfx card, according to PC Pro in front of me). So, it's looking like this spring will be special - Mozilla 1.0, Gnome 2.0, OpenOffice.org 1.0. I can't wait. Cheers, Alex.
