That doesn't necesarially indicate it's way off, most Linux
distributions had a C ABI change with the shift to glibc-2.0, but it
was usable before and after.

Granted, I think "end of the year" is a mite optimistic, but claiming
redhat 5.0 was a way off from being a replacement for 4.2 because it
had a C ABI change wouldn't fly...
