Take heart, it's a piece of cake (or was in my case - that was with
2.2.x kernels: it's probably even easier in 2.4.x) It's really useful:
the two key values are the CPU temperature, and the processor fan speed
(one of the bugbears with unattended servers is the CPU fan grinding to
a halt.)
