Well it's still heavily used by some dists. Ancient does not mean bad. Plus
there's only so much a person can do to cron...it will reach a point where
it can't be improved :-)

Dont know where you grabbed your source from, but for future reference (for
everyone):

Latest version is dated Jan 16 1994, looking at the shar files. Note there
may be security issues with it ... search advisories at security focus and
at cert :)
