I think that NT only knows FAT16 and NTFS so those would be the two to
try.

NTFS is a kernel option just like all the file systems. Depending on how
your kernel was compiled it could be compiled in or as a module.

#modprobe ntfs 

should load the ntfs module then lsmod should be able to tell you that
it is loaded.

#cat /proc/filesystems

will show you what filesystems are supported by the currently loaded
filesystem modules and compiled in fs.
