On the gateway box up to the net I'd say yes.  For checking e-mail 
viruses which cause most of the problems anyway.  Amavis is used by a 
lot of people.

The other one that I like is made by Trend Micro. Why ?  Lot of Linux 
admins I've spoken to like it.

there is a GUI interface for this so that a user can point and click 
on an icon on the desktop.  This is only an introduction.  There is a 
growing list of antivirus software for Linux which adds to the 
confusion week by week.
