Depends on how much of a risk you see them as :) Without making use of
security holes, or bad administration, viruses[1] can't destroy a machine,
causing damage only to the user/group(s) it is running as.

Servers, especially fileservers running Samba or similar, may be better
proctected if the AV product scans for all viruses, and not just Linux ones.
Not sure if its worth it for desktops, as a native AV product sitting on the
local machine can scan a machine faster than one sitting on a desktop
pulling files from the server to check for viruses.
