Hi,

Thanks very much for your comments. The problem is now solved. After contacting IPCop.org, someone sugested leaving the set top box off for a while, and then turning it on again with the computer already on and 
connected. This is what I did:
I turned the set top box off for about 10 minutes. I then Plugged my firewall in to it. I turned the set top box on again, and left it for 30 minutes. Then using setup, I caused ipcop to reset the network connection ( I did not do a reboot). It got an IP address whilst 
pulling the network up again.
