[Sheflug] Mouse problem in Slackware

Hi,

I'm having problems trying to get my USB mouse working in Slackware 8.1. On
setup I told it I had a USB mouse so /dev/mouse should be linked to what
ever device is the USB mouse. But whenever I try to run X I get the
following error:

(EE) xf86OpenSerial: Cannot open device /dev/mouse
 No such device.
(EE) Mouse1: cannot open input device
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Mouse 1"
No core pointer

Fatal server error:
failed to initialize core devices

There are two things I can think of which could be the problem. 1) is that I
have two USB slots on my machine and is /dev/mouse pointing to the correct
one (unlikely) and 2) I havn't got the correct modules included in my kernel
(most probably). I have been through the kernel configuration but from what
I can see everything should work although I don't know exactly what modules
are needed. Plus, I don't know if the modules are loaded at boot. Most of
the USB devices in my kernel configuration are set to M for module but I'm
not sure whether or not they're loaded. If I knew which modules were needed
I could modprobe them to try them. My kernel is 2.4.18 btw.

Can anyone help?

Darrell
