[Sheflug] Linux Seminar

Hello

This just bounced into our enquiries mail box. Thought I'd better
forward it to the list. I've had to remove the attachments and
replace them with an Open Office document. Couldn't convert it to
LaTeX or Postscript without losing the tables..

We are holding an Embedded Linux Seminar day for Non Linux Developers
at the Madjeski Stadium, Reading, Berkshire on Thursday 31st October
 02. For many developers of real-time embedded systems there still is
a great amount of confusion as to what exactly embedded Linux really
is, and more importantly what it is not. The intent of the day is to
openly position Linux as a target environment for real-time embedded
applications, and to present its shortcomings (e.g. Linux cannot run
on an 8051 or PIC, you cannot sensibly develop for Linux on a
 Windows platform).
The day will comprise of various presentations and papers covering
memory and processor requirements; what "real-time" Linux is and is
not; what "small" Linux really means combined with a tabletop
exhibition of various embedded Linux environments and supporting
tools. Please see attached our proposed agenda.
As you are already established in the Linux market, here is your
chance to make your mark whether it be presenting one of the
sessions or exhibiting with one of the tabletop stands. It is
important, however, that (a) these are not a "pure" sales pitch, and
 (b) they can be present in a fair and open manor (i.e. Linux is not
the solution to every problem). There is a small charge of £250.00
for tabletops which are limited in number. If presenting a session
there is no charge involved and if you would like to just come along
and listen, the charge for the day is just £65.00 and includes lunch
 and refreshments throughout.
We anticipate attendance in excess of 150 delegates and hope that the
day will give an open, honest and unbiased view of where Embedded
Linux is today, compared to existing Real-Time Operating System
development (e.g. VxWorks, OSE, Nucleus, etc.).
If you are interested in any elements mentioned please contact me,
details below. If the seminar is not applicable to you, we would
appreciate you passing these details onto other members of your
 group who may be interested.
Thank you for your time.
