[Sheflug] OOo and MySQL via ODBC

As the list seems to be up again after apparently being down for a time, 
please forgive me for re-posting this question as any replies may have got 
swallowed up in cyberspace.

My current trauma is getting OOo to load a MySQL database via ODBC. I have 
unixODBC installed and I have configured a DSN in /etc/odbc.ini. However, 
when I try to configure my database as an OOo data source it's not listed.
In the OOo Data Source Admin window, I create a new DSN, select ODBC as the 
database type but if I then click the browse button to select the url of 
the data source, I get an empty window. If I then click the Organize button 
I get an error box saying that OOo can't find libodbc.so although it's 
actually in /var/lib
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
