Indeed it it.

Open a console window, and type 'killall -9 gmc' to get rid of them. Then, 
while they aren't there, log out of KDE, making sure the 'Save session for 
future logins' _IS_ checked, and it will save the new session without GMC.

GMC uses a different thread/process for each icon on the desktop for some 
reason. Each one is a seperate GMC window. I think it's more the fact that it 
draws all over KDE that is the complaint :)
