    Usually, the windows partition will be mounted with read only
privs for users and readwrite for root. There are ways to sort it out
with mandrake's tools, if I remember correctly, but a visit to
/etc/fstab will prove useful. Again, if memory serves, you need to ask
umask=0 at the end of the line (before the 0 0 entries).

    Maybe someone can provide us with extra details, but basically,
that's the drill.

    Once that is done, your symlinks will work as expected :-)
