I've noticed that there's a general fault with SuSE 8.0 and 
partitioning which shows up mostly on older hardware.  Not seen the 
same thing on Debian/Slackware/Mandrake etc.. I'm speaking from the 
point of view of someone who has been installing SuSE 8.0 on older 
hardware over the past few weeks.

Sorry I can't be more positive.  Hoping that the new release which 
will be with us soon - it's been announced - will have fixed this 
bug.  I think someone else will give you a better answer than this 
one ?
