My NIC supported WakeOnLan so the PC (even when powered off (softly)) would fool the cable/modem into thinking that it was still operational. It was only when the plug was pulled for enough time that I would loose the address. Not sure on the situation with Telewest yet. I had Telewest installed today, quite impressed.. first comments to the engineer was "It's just a case of DHCP and a bit of TCP/IP" isn't it. With a broken installation of Windows on a little 166mhz. They never installed any of their software though. I've not seen any AUP's. The installation could be done on Linux if you don't have a Windows box- but you'll probably have to drive the dhcp command and point them to the nearest web-browser. -- NAME : Adam Allen.
