RJ45, I'd pretty much put money on the fact that USB won't work. Since my linux box was text only I let the engineer have Windows, there is nothing stopping the installation been done on Linux. - put power to the modem - run dhcp client aginst the modem (for a 192.168.100.x address). - use a web-browser to see a page served off the cable modem for diagnostics etc. - put the cable around the house - release ip address - renew the lease, to get a public ip address - reboot out of windows - run dhcp client on linux - enjoy! It could have been about 10 minutes for installation - but they prolonged it a bit more... and had 4 people doing the installation!
