It's an RJ45 connection. Installation for me was like this:

Insert network card and plug in
Run Mandrake network wizard
Accept defaults

However, more detail is that it is simply a DHCP aware network connection. 
Everything is automatic after that. It takes around 5 seconds in Mandrake to 
setup (it took the engineer 1.5 hours to install it on my bodged temporary 
Win98 install, now deceased).
