[Sheflug] C++ book recommendations?

Hi,
After having to use Fortran XX, C, Python and a bit of perl and
bash, I have found that C++ might be extremely useful for some
problems I have in sight. So, I was trying to refresh my C++ knowledge
from non-ISO days, and realised that all my books (well, all my
_book_) are outdated (for example, the bit which I am more interested
in, templates, is in a Chapter called "C++ dustier corners"...).

So I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a C++ book. I had
a flick through the C++ Annotations at Groeningen University, and
while this is a great document, I'd rather buy a bound and printed
version to read on my confy chair.

I have studied the C++ usenet FAQ recommended list of books, and
two books seem to stand out from the crowd: Lippman and Stroustrup.
The latter seems to be aimed at C old-hands, but looking at the ToC, I
am still undecided.

Of course, some general text in C++ that deals only with numerical
examples would be even better, but I know that those things do not
exist :-)

Any comments, discussion and so on appreciated :-)

    Cheers
    José
