My laptop is a P166, 48Mb RAM.

Mozilla takes an age to start, but once it's loaded, it's not bad.
I would find a lighter browser (links?) to run on this sort of
hardware tho.

As far as distros go, I'd just use Debian. A basic install is well under a
100Mb, and DHCP clients are easy enough to apt-get (IIRC, you can
configure the system to use DHCP at install time).

I'm using Debian 3.0, GNOME 1.4, kernel 2.4.19 on my laptop. Does the
job.
It's particularly nice as a wireless network X terminal to one of the
pokier machines in the house :-)
