Ooh dear. Sounds like some file system corruption if ever I heard it.

Unfortunately (for you) no. The only problem I have with mdk 9 is that
KDE 3 seems a little less stable than it perhaps should be. However,
since I use Gnome 2 most of the time it doesn't bother me :)
