One of the problems is that any IT training that the teachers get to go on is
totally M$-centric (I almost put IT training in quotes). It's important to
remember that teachers are teachers first and foremost and don't want to be
SysAdmins. No one at the LEA has any concept of linux and that has to be
their first port of call for support. Some of the more PC aware staff are
reasonably comfortable with M$ tthrough use of their own PCs at home. I would
be amazed if any of the staff at my school had ever had any real exposure to
linux (and if they had, they probably wouldn't realise it).

It all means tthat it's very difficult for linux to get a foothold.
