Hmm, if there is a lot of output then it could be a bug in the way
gnome-terminal handles screen histories? If it doesn't reallocate
properly when removing the oldest stuff then it may cause issues. Of
course, that's just me thinking aloud...

Probably best to either get a different version of gnome-term, or from a
different source (ximian?) or use a different terminal (aterm and Eterm
are very funky, rxvt is functional).
