Richard,
I don't know if we are talking about the same thing, but I have Kmail set up
so that it puts up a graphic and plays a message when there is new mail.
I set the message up in 'configure/networks/receive/other settings' in Kmail
settings. You can chose your own .wav here.
Of course you have to do this by 'clicking the mouse'. Perhaps somone out
there could translate this into some form of easy command line syntax:)
