I have this exact setup. An SMC Barricade (thanks to your good advice), BT ADSL, and a server that's on all the time using ddclient to keep dyndns DNS up-to-date with my current IP (huntersbar.info among others btw).

So, while the other suggestions for static IPs are great, I would say that it's basically no trouble at all with a DNS with TTL set to 1minute! Also, I find that having a dynamic IP can be useful for certain things.

So, simply sign-up with dyndns, install ddclient, sort out your virtual server ports on your SMC and you're away with a web server or whatever. If you need a hand with anything I can always send you my config files or whatever. I use Mandrake 8.2 for my server, but I'm sure it's much of a muchness as far as ddclient is concerned.

I've been using dyndns for over a year now, and am never without a connection to home, it's come in very handy on more than one occasion I can tell you.

Good luck with it.
