[Sheflug] Toshiba Laptop + USB

Hiya,

I've got a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that we were thinking to use as a
ADSL -> LAN Server for our house. It's got a USB port on the back, so I
figured that it'd be no problem to get a USB modem for it, and just go. The
modem in question is Linux complient(I thought to check that), but it would
appear that the USB Controller isn't. The model is an S300CDT - Pentium 166.
Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get the USB working on
it?
The Laptop is running Slack 8.1, and I've compiled the 2.4.18 Kernel that
came with it to suit. It's got all of the USB options built in, but when
restarted there wasn't a single message about USB in the startup, unlike my
main computer which did have a few...
I have seen something that stated some of the Satellite Laptops used a USB
Controller that didn't work under Linux, but it didn't mention which ones...

Anyone got any pointers?
