Due to a some rather nasty hardware failures I am
having to do some very rapid changes to our school network.
I used to use Microsoft NT4 dial in server to allow
remote access for me and some members of staff to collect work etc.
However that server is now defunct, it`s NT4
Licence will be reused on a new machine which I can`t connect a modem
to!
I am trying to find a Linux solution that short
term will allow 56K dial in, preferably with Call back support.
Long term I would like to develop a VPN solution
using our Broadband internet connection, however this is heavily
firewalled
and the ISP doesnt like changing settings for
individual schools.
I have some low spec hardware ranging from P75/16Mb
memory to P120/48M and the aproprate modem, freesco was one
thought,
but doen`t support ring back. The other firewall
packages I have looked at ipcop/smoothwall etc don`t offer dial in
support.
The iceing on the cake would be if I could use
winbind to get the usernames and passwords from out NT domain.
Can anyone recomend a package that might fit the
bill? I would really like to be able to move yet another service From a
microsoft platform!
Thanks
