[Sheflug] Introducimg the 2.6 Kernel

Hi

My version of this months Linux Journal fell in through the door
yesterday. The concrete re-inforcement around the door seems to be
holding up well in spite of increasingly large piles of forest
falling in through a small flap. There's an article with the above
title on page 52. Ignoring the spelling mistakes and bad grammar and
poor syntax the following is the most of it.

Goes on about how the 2.6 kernel has been put back a bit due to the
fact that everyone wants to make sure that it works and other things.
There's a list of important new features...

*  O(1) Scheduler
*  Pre-emptive kernel
*  Latency improvements
*  Re-designed block layer
*  Improved VM sub-system
*  Improved threading support
*  New sound layer

The last one interests me but my Alsa sound system sounds pretty good
with Beethoven, Mozart and all of the others anyway on a 2.4 kernel.

Also of interest is the second article by Hans Reiser about Reiser 4.
This is a fascinating series written by a technologist who is
producing some amazing things just now.

Finally there's a bit about turning your computer into a sytnthesizer
studio with "The Linux Softsynth Roundup". Looks really good. What
would the BBC and Moog synths of the 1970's have made of this :)
