RE: [Sheflug] Printing on a Novell Printer



Although I am not 100% sure, I think that the University does use Novell
print queues because access to printers is restricted. For example,
there are some printers in my dept. that can only be used by members of
staff. All print queues are managed by the computing services.

I've printed out a "diagnostics page" on the HP2500CM that we have. The
first line on the second page says

HP JETDIRECT        J4100A

Then lower down there's stuff about UNICAST and TOTAL packets received.
A bit further down it has

MODE:        QUEUE SERVER
NODE NAME:   INF_LJ2500_1
SERVER NAME: YATEHOLME

Then almost at the end, there's the following line

TCP/IP STATUS:     DISABLED

Maybe this means that the printer can only be accessed through the queue
server.
