Finally got to the bottom of why 'spamd -d -c -a' doesn't work on my
SuSE 8.2 machine.

What you have to do is open up /etc/services in a favourite text
editor and add the line "spamd    783/tcp".   After you have done this
spamd starts and works fine.

What a hard grind that was :)
