[Sheflug] MDK 9.1 installation failures

I have installed a pseudo-RAID IDE 133 card in my system & hung a 40Gb
hdd off of it. The idea is that I install MDK 9.1 on it & shift my hdds
from the onboard IDE 100, leaving them free for my DVD-Rom & 52X CD R/W.

Nothing outlandish there, I think.

However, installation of MDK (both from CD & the Linux Format DVD) fails
- either it hangs or more often it seems to complete fine, but when
rebooted it fails to locate the module deps, hence the system is a lame
duck. 

Has anyon else had a similar experience, or can anyone offer advice
about cloning my existing setup to the new drive?
