[Sheflug] Webcam with Mandrake 9.1?
Hi All,
I successfully connected an se401-based webcam (a Kensigton, as I
remember) to a Mandrake 8.2 box running wmwebcam.
It worked! But now I'm trying the same thing with Mandrake 9.1 and I'm
getting the message "video4linux error cannot access /dev/video"
I've checked permissions. /dev/video is a world-readable symlink
pointing to /dev/v4l/video (or something similar - whatever it's
actually called it's in a subdirectory called v4l, which sounds
encouraging!).
I've listed the running modules and se401 is loaded - so is usb-video
and usb-uhci, which I think are needed. I've tried removing and
reinserting the modules, but I can't get the webcam led, which flashes
when the se401 module is inserted, to actually light up.
I'm sure I'm missing something... any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
James
