Hi!

Hmmm... Funny that. I have been using KDE 3.1.4 over here to great
success. I hope I don't start another distro war and discourage
another new user from joining the list this time :-), but...
aRTS... aRTS... AAAAAARGH!!!
OK, I have installed JuK, which is a very nice tool that lets you
have a library of playlists and so on. As I have ripped my CDs and
burnt them onto mp3's/ogg's so that I can carry them around, this is a
very handy utility. However, it uses aRTS to play music back. So far,
I have avoided aRTS: its clipping, and general annoyances make it
unuseable. Maybe it's my box (K7-550MHz), but...
Anyway, I installed a new kernel with Con Kolivas' patches (low
latency, new schedulćr...), and tried JuK. The result was a little
disssapointing: the clipping is there, and it just sounds like an LP
with a knackered amplifier (loads of hissing noises). I have tweaked
the arts set-up, but still no joy (I only tweked in KDE's control
panel). Still, patchy behaviour...
Any clues?
Cheers
José
