I keep receiving emails dated 1st Jan, 1970. I thought it was something spam related, but I've seen the odd genuine email dated similarly. I'm wondering if it's an assumed value in the case of invalid date headers. Ideas anyone?

Have you got an example? I don't think I've seen any dated 1970 though. Is the time midnight on the emails? If so, then it could well be a default, where an MTA or MUA is dating the mail at the epoch[1].

Also, which MUA do you use?

Chris...
[1] UNIX epoch is when time(2) returns 0 - all UNIXes[2] have this set as 1970-01-01 00:00:00.
[2] at least, all those I've used :)
There you are replying before I post, must be the timezone in Hillsborough ;)
