We use efax (free(dom)), which allows sending of faxes from postscript
files and receiving faxes, either manually (you pick up the phone - it's
a fax call, you put the phone down and press a "receive fax" desktop
button, or automatically - you're out of the office, the phone rings,
the fax picks it up and receives the fax if it's a fax call. You can
also get efax to pass the call on to a voicemail service, too, though
I've not set this up yet.
To get the scanning to fax set up you'd just a write a short script to
do the scan to a ps file then fax that file off. We just don't have a
scanner, though it'd be really nice to do that...
