Big thanks, as I had seen the url link that you gave me before, but it
all looked to much, well give it a try, ignored the output from
make;make install changed my /etc/modules.conf file and alsa picked up
the sound card no problem, yet to try it on ext speakers as the internal
are a bit tinny.

good tool isapnp

pnpdump -c > /etc/isapnp.conf 

This enabled me to confirm the sound card was working..
