[Sheflug] Kernel Frame Buffer and Debian
Hi,
All of this talk of fancy boot screens from the Gentoo users is making me
jealous, so can the debian gurus on the list help me out here.
I have a Fujitsu siemens laptop with a 1024x768 TFT display and a ATI
MACH64 mobility based graphic card. All I want is for the consoles to fill
the screen instead of occupying what is perhaps 640x480 in the middle.
I'm using the official 2.4.20-1-686 (security issues, what security
issues:-) kernel. I thought it would be as simple as adding atyfb to my
modules list and appending video=atyfb:mode:1024x768 to lilo. No such luck
loading atyfb causes everything to go to pot console display wise. I then
tried vesafb thinking it would be the default catchall driver. It can't
find the device:
init_module: No such device or address
any clues greatly appreciated.
Simon.
P.S. for any ueber gurus out there who know how to get the text to line up
with the debianlilo.bmp lilo graphic, hints on that would also be
appreciated.
